Now more than ever,
we need the support of the Cebu Librarians Association, Inc.-the one and only librarians’ association in Cebu that has the power
to represent our interests at the highest level of governance.
The Cebu Librarians
Association (CLA) was founded in 1952 by a group of librarians. By 1976, CLA was affiliated with its mother association, the
Philippine Library Association, Inc. Later it was registered as non-stock, non-profit corporation on October 25, 1991 per
Securities and Exchange Commission Registry Number CN 91-000557. It was then known as Cebu Librarians Association, Inc. (CLAI).
The Association’s
objectives are to: “promote the advancement of library services and librarianship in the province and city of Cebu, provide a venue for the exchange of ideas and experiences among
members, foster the love of reading and promote keen interest in books and libraries, and safeguard the interest of its members.”
We welcome our visitors
and fellow librarians to have a glimpse of our roots, our history and our aspiration of reaching a century with flying colors.
We are also inviting our fellow Cebuano librarians to join the Association because in unity we’ll make a difference
by making librarianship important in nation building.
